Ionela A. Shilage jedna je od dvije unuke Mihaly A. Shilage, a druga je Ionelina mlađa sestra, Alma. Ionela i Alma pomagale su svom djedu dok je on sudjelovao u programu razvoja bespilotnih letjelica Erusean Air and Space Administration.
